I feel like we are limping to the end of the term…

That’s what a fellow parent said as we waited for the school’s Christmas raffle to be drawn.
I felt it too.
The last weeks of the year can feel relentless—a constant juggle of end-of-term activities, late nights, Christmas prep, and work deadlines. It’s like the calendar is cramming in everything it possibly can before we hit January. Instead of winding down, everything speeds up.
And yet, every so often, there’s a moment that makes me pause. Luca’s excitement over our elf’s latest antics or the way he talks about seeing his cousins on Christmas day. It can feel exhausting trying to keep up with everything, but it’s those small sparks put a smile on my face.
Within the busyness, I know it’s essential to carve out some space—nothing fancy, just a quiet moment with my bare feet planted in the backyard lawn or an afternoon walk or remembering to do our “gratefuls” over dinner.
They help. We forget that we have a choice and that not everything needs to be squeezed in this side of the New Year. Simple moments of connection and grace - it’s a choice to create them.
I encourage all my clients to do it. Because what’s all this for? All this DOING if we don’t also get to BE? And enjoy it.
I know it might feel impossible when the calendar is this full - but do you have ways to ground yourself as the year races to a close?
