Feeling proud...

“I’m so proud of that” I thought, as I caught myself staring at this certificate that’s been hanging on my wall since May.
It really does mean so much to me and I got to thinking about why. Because as a lover of learning I’ve been collecting certificates for years. (Collected quite a few over those 8+ years studying law, policy and politics!)
But this one?
I think perhaps because it was born from a deep desire to support women. Working mums, in particular.
I could see it everywhere (and feel it myself) - working mums drowning under the overwhelm, the mental and domestic load, the care-giving, their career ambitions. I could see that in trying to perform the juggle they were de-prioritising themselves, their health, their joy.
And I knew it didn’t have to be that way.
But I also knew I needed to learn some new skills to support my desire to help.
I thought my path to doing this would be through Psychology, but after a year studying that - I switched. And this certificate, nearly 3 years later, is the result.
I ask every single coaching client - “what is something you’re proud of yourself for?” and if I asked myself that question today, the answer would be - my ICF Accredited Coaching qualification.
60+ hours of coaching education. Over 100 client coaching hours. 10 hours of mentoring. A coaching performance evaluation. A 3 hour exam. No walk in the park!
But worth every second.
I love my work as a Coach. What I love most is supporting mums to navigate the work/parenting juggle and build a life that feels right for them. And knowing that I have genuine skills and knowledge as a Coach to help them get there.
Thank you to my amazing clients, fellow coaches and fantastic mentors that I had the pleasure to work with over the last couple of years. Without your trust, support and knowledge, I wouldn’t have the job I love today!
